Migrating from Mendeley
Mendeley exports BibTeX and RIS; Ad Marginem reads both.
Export from Mendeley
- In Mendeley Reference Manager, select the items you want to export (or pick a collection).
- File → Export → BibTeX or RIS.
- If you want PDFs to come along, export from the Mendeley Desktop legacy client (still works for the file metadata) — the cloud-only Reference Manager no longer exports attachments directly.
Import into Ad Marginem
- Settings → Data → Import.
- Drop the BibTeX or RIS file.
- Add PDFs separately via drag-and-drop into the matching items, or use the bulk-attach workflow under Library → Bulk Actions → Attach PDFs which matches PDFs to items by title.
Notes
- Mendeley’s “favorite” flag maps to Ad Marginem’s star.
- Read/unread state maps onto Ad Marginem’s read-status field.
- Mendeley personal tags carry over.
- Group library memberships do not come across (Ad Marginem doesn’t have group libraries in the MVP — F#73).
